3DS MAX PERFORMANCE
New versions of 3DS MAX are highly efficient at utilizing high core count processors. The improvements 3ds Max has seen recently has allowed it to scale at almost a 1:1 ratio. This means that a CPU with twice the core count, is essentially twice as fast. With this in mind, we have chose to default the Ryzen 9 5950X, as it's high core count as well as high frequency, makes it the best bang for your dollar option for high performance in 3DS MAX.
Viewport performance in 3DS MAX is mainly based on GPU horsepower. A higher frame rate will result in a smoother experience when rotating, panning, or zooming around the 3D model you are working on. We have defaulted a mid-range Quadro video card, however other RTX gaming cards will provide similar or better performance for the money with the only drawback being the lack of technical support by Autodesk.
3DS MAX recommends a minimum of 16GB of RAM. Depending on the complexity of your designs, you may need 64GB or more.
