OCTANE RENDER PERFORMANCE
Octane Render is a GPU based render engine, the processor does not play a direct role when rendering scenes, however there are a few calculations that take place in preparation for rendering that are CPU accelerated. Frequency is the most important factor in achieving high performance in Octane, but a good mix of core count, and frequency is best as usually professionals use other applications simultaneously. For this reason we chose the Ryzen 9 5800X for it's high clock speed, and other additional resources that come with the X570 platform. If you are using more than 2 GPU's, we recommend upgrading to a Threadripper configuration.
Video card selection is paramount in achieving high performance in Octane Render. The amount of video memory your card has will limit how large and complex the scenes you are able to render are. We recommend GeForce cards over Quadro as they provide much better price to performance numbers. We chose to include a single RTX 3080 in this configuration for maximum performance; if you'd like to change this selection, or add an addition card, simply click Customize and change the configuration accordingly.
The amount of Ram you require will depend on your specific project. We recommend 32GB, which should be enough to handle very complex scenes, but if you require more, simply add it in your custom configuration. Our Ryzen configuration will handle up 128GB, and our Threadripper configuration will handle up to 256GB.
